Anushka Sen is an Indian telly actress who embarked upon the showbiz world as a child artiste. Apart from being a small-screen actress, she featured in many advertisements (most prominent one being for the electrical appliance brand ‘Orient’ opposite Mahendra Singh Dhoni), has been a part of music videos like ‘Gal Karke’ – opposite Siddharth Nigam, ‘Superstar’ – opposite Riyaz Ali and the latest one being ‘Teri Aadat’ – opposite Siddharth Nigam; and has even done movies like Crazy Cukkad Family (2015) and Lihaaf: The Quilt (2019). She also acted in a short film called Sammaditthi (2019).
Anushka hails from Bengali family in Ranchi (Jharkhand). After coming to Mumbai, she got her debut role in the entertainment industry for featuring in a Zee TV’s serial named Yahaan Main Ghar Ghar Kheli in 2009. After her debut as a child actress, there was no stopping her as she went on bagging more and more small-screen roles and nailed each and every performance of hers from a very young age itself, such that she is currently bagging lead roles in many Hindi shows as an adult actress. 1. Meher in BaalVeer
This show premiered on Sab TV in 2012 as a fictional show for children, wherein a boy named Ballu gets bestowed with special powers by six fairies, each having her own unique traits and he uses his powers to help good and honest children and his friends. Anushka played the role of ‘Meher Dagli’ herein who was one of Ballu’s close-friends and her character became pretty popular amid the show’s viewers, who were also children back then.
2. Young Parvati in Devon Ke Dev – Mahadev
In the same year, Anushka starred in this Life Ok serial that was based on the mythological drama revolving around the saga of Lord Shiva. While actors like Mohit Raina, Mouni Roy and others played the lead roles, Anushka played the role of a young Goddess Parvati and was widely lauded by the shows audience (from all age-groups) for her innocence and sweetness on-screen. Eventually, as the show’s plot progressed, she was replaced by actress Sonarika Bhadoria, who played an adult Parvati.
3. Diya Verma in Internet Wala Love
This show aired on Colors TV from 27 August 2018 and then shifted to the Colors Rishtey channel before finally going off-air on 29th March 2019. Starring Shivin Narang and Tunisha Sharma, it’s main plot revolved around their on-screen characters Jai Mittal and Aadhya Verma getting connected to each other through social media, despite living miles apart. Herein, Anushka played the role of the female protagonist Aadhya Verma’s younger sister – Diya Verma.
4. Manikarnika in Jhansi Ki Rani
This was an Indian historical drama television series based on the life of the legendary freedom fighter Rani Lakshmi Bai, who was the queen of Jhansi and the epitome of feminism back in the colonial period. The show aired on Colors TV from 11 February 2019 and went off-screen in that year’s July itself. Anushka Sen bagged her first lead-role in this show for playing the chief role of the titular freedom fighter and the brave-heart queen. From this show onwards, Anushka became a household fame as an adult artiste.
5. Rani in Apna Time Bhi Aayega
This Indian television drama airs on Zee TV and digitally streams on OTT platform ZEE5. The show initially starred actors Fahman Khan and Anushka Sen in the lead roles and Anushka was turning prominent as a lead artiste, however, due to unknown issues, actress Megha Ray replaced Anushka for Rani’s role.
