MUMBAI : Television had always been the grandest of mediums and has been the audience’s go-to for entertainment. The entertainment landscape has changed a lot over the years.
Now, audiences want fresh tales of love and drama and there is new barrage of actors taking over TV shows. But what makes a show iconic? It’s definitely actors. Actors have defined decades and years of the golden era of television where they have commanded more star power than a few Bollywood celebrities as well.
The balance of fiction and non-fiction shows is what makes television so dynamic and entertaining. While fiction shows take you through a week, non-fiction help you relax over the weekend. It’s the feeling of seeing the common man up there showcasing their talents that make you feel happy and hopeful.
But some of these contestants go on to become full-time actors, testing their versatility and skills. You may be surprised to find out some of these actors that rule the small screens today, have actually either auditioned for reality shows or won some.
Fahmaan Khan:
Television hottie Fahmaan Khan has now become a hearthrob but he first started his career by auditioning for MTV Roadies and for a season that involved Raghu and Rajiv. Even though he was not successful on the show, he has definitely become a household name now.
Simba Nagpal:
Talking about heartthrobs, Simba Nagpal is definitely one and this star got his start from an MTV reality show as well. It was none other than Splitsvilla. Simba stood 8th in the competition. Since then, he has been a part of shows like Shakti and Naagin. He was a very loved contestant on Bigg Boss 15.
Sumbul Touqeer Khan:
The TV darling, who is quite young, got her career kickstarted when she participated in a dance reality show called, DID L’il Master for Zee TV. Sumbul has become a household name with her stint as Imlie and is currently seen inside the Bigg Boss house as a contestant.
Shagun Pandey:
While Shagun Pandey had already been working on TV in different roles, it was his stint in the show MTV Splitsvilla that really gave him that boost and he was seen in shows like Kyun Uthe Dil Chod Aaye, Tujhse Hai Raabta and now in Meet: Badlegi Duniya Ki Reet.
Aditi Sharma:
Aditi Sharma became popular for her roles in shows like Ganga and for her Bollywood film with Ranveer Singh, Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl, but she started her career with a reality show that is also responsible for many other great actress – India’s Best Cinestars Ki Khoj that premiered on Zee TV in 2004. She actually won the show and things have been great for her ever since.
We do have reality TV to thank for all these amazing actors and even though not all of them had successful reality shows stints, they have definitely made it big now.
